Heading into Open Enrollment, which begins on October 15, take a look at some highlights of what Medicare in 2026 has in store:
- If you enrolled in a Medicare Prescription Payment Plan in 2025, spreading costs evenly across the year, renewal will be automatic.
- Due to continued inflation, the annual out-of-pocket Part D prescription drug price cap will increase by $100 to $2,100.
- If your Part D drug plan has a deductible, its maximum cap will increase by $25.
- Insulin costs will remain capped at $35 per month.
- All adult recommended vaccines are now free; no deductibles or cost sharing.
- Medicare will not cover GLP-1 drugs for weight loss, only as treatment for diabetes, cardiovascular disease and other FDA-approved uses.
- Medicare Advantage plan rules are changing to expand beneficiary rights and improve continuity of care.
